PHYSICS

The Basic Sciences and Humanities Department has an Engineering Physics laboratory, which was established in the year 1998 with a cost of 2, 76,000/- and updated by spending 70.000/- with latest equipment as per R10 to fulfill the needs of IB.Tech engineering students. Six experiments are offered to the students per semester. For smooth progress of light experiments, this laboratory is provided with dark room facility.

The following are the List of Experiments offered in the Engineering Physics lab in First semester

  1. Determination of Rigidity modulus of a given material - Torsional Pendulum.
  2. Refractive Index of the given prism.
  3. Newton's Rings.
  4. Parallel Fringes.
  5. Volume resonator
  6. Diffraction Grating -Normal Incidence

List of Experiments offered in the Engineering Physics lab in Second semester

  1. Determine the Time Constant for a C-R Circuit.
  2. Determine the Band Gap of a Semi conductor using a p-n junction diode.
  1. Study of Characteristic curves (l/V) of a Zener diode to determine its Breakdown voltage.
  2. Draw the characteristic curves and determine the Thermoelectric coefficient of a Thermistor
  3. Study the variation of Magnetic Field along the axis of a solenoid coil using Stewart - Gee's apparatus.
  4. Draw the Frequency Response curves of L-C-R Series and Parallel Circuits.

4

Apart from the above experiments this laboratory is provided with Rs 14000/-worth models for Crystal structures for Demonstration. Optical fiber demonstration kit and Demonstration of thermo electric generation effect, Peltier effects.

ADDITIONAL LAB HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED WITH  AN AMOUNT OF 2,10,000/- RUPEES TO CATER THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS OF ADDITION SECTIONS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-2012

ENGLISH LANGUAGE  COMMUNICATION SKILLS LAB(ELCS)

The College, realizing importance of communication skills, has started "Centre for Development of Communication Skills (CDCS)" in the year 2001. CDCS aims at making students speak and write simple and correct English confidently initially and later train them in soft skills so that the students get placed in reputable Multi-National Companies.  With the change in the demands and needs of the industry, the lab is now focusing on rigorously training the students from their First year itself in communication skills, soft skills, life skills and counsels them whenever needed.

CDCS is christened as ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION SKILLS LAB (ELCS Lab) as per the norms of JNTU in the year 2005. ELCS Lab provides GRE, TOEFL, GMAT and IELTS training for students who aspire to pursue their education abroad along with continuous and rigorous in-house placement training in collaboration with Mathematics department to support the Training and Placement Cell.

The lab has a library with 630 books on English language and communication skills, personality development, soft skills and other material for competitive exams apart from magazines. The CDROMS and audio cassettes facilitate enhancement of listening skills and neutralization of accent.  The 72 systems in the lab support multimedia learning with software that provides self-learning facility for students with varied language proficiency levels.

The Interactive Communication Lab (IC Lab) aids communication skills development. It has a Public Address System (with roof fixed speakers), an LCD Projector, a handycam and a Television to record and replay the performance of each student during presentations.

Our college is an Authorized Learning Centre (ALC) for Modular Certificate Courses of Osmania University's PGRR Centre for Distance Education in collaboration with AP State Council for Higher Education. INFOSYS Campus Connect Soft Skills Training, Business English Certificate training and other language proficiency certification courses training is provided in the Lab by faculty members who have undergone training to facilitate these courses.

The lab also got grants from AICTE under MODROBS scheme and is in the process of better modernization.

ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY  LAB

The Basic Sciences and Humanities Department has an well equipped Engineering Chemistry Laboratory established in the year 2009 and updated with latest equipment as per R-10 to fulfill the needs of I B.Tech Engineering Students.

The following are the list of experiments offered in the Engineering Chemistry Lab in First Semester.

1.      Introduction to Volumetric Analysis:   Three types of volumetric titrations.

2.  ANALYSIS OF WATER  Estimation of  :   a. Calcium, Magnesium, ,Iron (111),Zinc

                                                                              b. TOTAL HARDNESS BY EDTA METHOD

                                                                              c..TURBIDITY

                                                                              d.CONDUCTIVITY

                                                                              e pH

                                                                              f. TOTAL DISSOLVED SALTS

                                                                              g. DISSOLVED OXYGEN

The student has to get his water sample and the teacher has to explain the analysis and the results are to be compared with the INDIAN STANDRDS.

3. CONSTRUCTION OF GALVANIC CELL

Based on the  position of the metals in the electrochemical  series  a model Electrochemical Cell is constructed and the values are determined and effect of metal ion concentration,  Temperature etc. on emf are calculated.

The following are the list of experiments offered in the Engineering Chemistry Lab in Second Semester.

1.  PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL.    INTRODUCTION    TO  BIO FUELS

The Priority is given to   production of Biodiesel from  waste cooking oil

2. ESTIMATION OF PROPERTIES OF OIL:

      a. Acid Number                b. Viscosity     c. Saponification value            d. Aniline point

      e. Flash and Fire point’s    f. Pour and Cloud point

3. PREPARATION OF PHENOL –FORMALDEHYDE RESIN

4. SOIL ANALYSIS:
